Mr. Orr’s addition will offer a fresh perspective and guidance to the Cambridge start-up
Cambridge-based Insurify announced this week that Joe Orr, EVP of Insurance at Clearlink, has joined the online insurance start-up’s Advisory Board.
Mr. Orr joins Giorgos Zacharia, CTO, Kayak, the web-based travel search engine; George Kassabgi, EVP of Product, Seniorlink, a company that is rolling out a “groundbreaking model” for in-home care and support for elders and the disabled; and Mark Rosenblatt, General Partner at Rationalwave Capital Partners, a venture capital firm that invested $2 million in Insurify in January 2016, as an Advisory Board member.
“I am very excited to have Joe Orr on our advisory board. He is an industry veteran and a thought leader in the industry with strong product, technology and operational expertise,” said Snejina Zacharia, CEO of Insurify. “We have been working with Joe Orr and our strategic partner Clearlink for over a year now and he has already proven to be extremely helpful with advice and recommendations.”
An industry expert and thought leader, Mr. Orr’s management skills and extensive knowledge of core target markets, product dynamics, and profit levers will be used to help Insurify differentiate it from other online insurance start-ups.
Insurify to create a new distribution model for independent agencies and carriers
Mr. Orr says that Insurify’s “right fit” of technology and user experience is what makes drew him to come on board.
“Consumers are overwhelmed by the multitude of insurance options available and Insurify provides the tool to recommend them the best policy to fit their specific needs,” explained Mr. Orr, on his decision to join the start-up’s Advisory Board. “I am pleased to be an advisor of Insurify…[It] has the right fit of user experience and technology to create a new distribution platform for both independent insurance agencies and carriers.”
Mr. Orr has been the EVP of Insurance for Clearlink since 2013. Prior to joining Clearlink, he was the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product Development at Answer Financial.

The company has a patent-pending virtual agent, “Evia,” that it says will allow a consumer to simply snap a photo of his license plate and text it to the Evia system. The virtual agent system will deliver policy quotes and recommendations via text message back to the consumer. Insurify does not presently write policies directly, but uses two 50-state Insurance Agencies, MassDrive, based in Boston, and the Clearlink Insurance Agency, LLC., headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.
