Massachusetts’ Classics&Exotics, a peer-to-peer online marketplace for vintage & exotic car driving experiences, has been acquired by the classic auto insurance Hagerty. This latest acquisition is part of Hagerty’s transformation into the world’s largest provider of specialty insurance for classic vehicles of all shapes and sizes. As a result of the acquisition, Classics&Exotics has been relaunched as DriveShare by Hagerty.

DriveShare gives people an easy way to get behind the wheel of cars they’ve always wanted to drive,” said McKeel Hagerty, CEO of Hagerty. “Our goal is to provide a common platform that connects enthusiasts and owners to expand the community of people who love cars.”

As part of the largest insurer of classic vehicles in the country, every DriveShare rental will now include up to $1 million in insurance protection along with full-service roadside assistance specifically designed for classic vehicles.

A little more about the former Classics&Exotics

Classics&Exotics was founded by Peter Zawadzki in 2014. Based in Cape Cod, and more specifically Sandwich, the company was the first, and only, national peer-to-peer online marketplace for classic and vintage car driving experiences. By connecting pre-screened, highly qualified motorists looking for a classic or vintage vehicle experience with the actual owners of those types of vehicles, the company grew quickly, during its three years in business, to become known as “the Airbnb of vintage and exotic cars.”

Upon the sale of his company, Mr. Zawadski has joined Hagerty as the new Director of DriveShare.

“I started this company so people could try out these amazing vehicles and owners could make a little money to defray the cost of ownership, and that’s still the mission today for DriveShare,” said Classics&Exotics founder Peter Zawadzki. “It’s a great way to bring more people into the hobby. What we’ve seen is that people who rent these cars often become classic car owners themselves.”
