April 26, 2019 by AC Editor

Nancy Bender will be feted as the 2019 IPYA Award Winner at this year’s event

Massachusetts insurance agent Nancy Z. Bender, Massagents based in Boston, Insurance Professional of the Year Winner 2019The Insurance Library Association of Boston announced this week that Nancy Z. Bender has been selected as the 2019 Insurance Professional of the Year. Ms. Bender is the current President of Bender Hatch Insurance.  A well-known and well-respected independent agent in the Massachusetts insurance industry for almost 40 years, she is a long-time Board Member of the Insurance Library Association of Boston and was named one of Traveler’s Agents of the Year in 2012. In commenting on that award, Ms. Bender said “Our Philosophy is Simple: Customers are our priority.”

Ms. Bender originally formed the Nancy Z. Bender Insurance Agency in 1978. In April of 2017, she and Josiah Hatch, of the HR Hatch Insurance Agency, merged their respective agencies to form Bender Hatch Insurance. In commenting on the merger, she said

“Twenty-five years ago, Josiah Hatch of H.R. Hatch Insurance and I began sharing office space. Over the years we realized we had similar values and goals about how we treat our employees and our clients. Josiah and I have decided to combine our agencies based on the common principles we have always shared,” she was quoted.

More about the Insurance Professional of the Year Award

Established in 2002 by the Richard Simches Fund, the Insurance Professional of the Year Award is presented each year to “…a person who demonstrates leadership and exemplifies those qualities that engender understanding of and respect for the insurance industry.”  The selection process is conducted by a cross-section of the insurance industry and as such carries with it that added significance.
