RogersGray Expands Its Geographic Footprint in Southern Massachusetts With Acquisition Of The G.H. Dunn Agency

January 13, 2020 by AC Editor

Both are independent insurance agencies based in Southern Massachusetts

Two more long-time independent insurance agencies have merged. This week, RogersGray announced that as part of its continued expansion in Southeastern Massachusetts, on January 1, 2020, it officially acquired the G. H. Dunn Agency of Buzzards Bay and Mattapoisett.

“G.H. Dunn is a top-notch agency and we are thrilled to be working with the team there and continuing their legacy of exceptional service to their clients.” Says David Robinson, President & CEO of RogersGray. “The team at G.H. Dunn will remain, including David Dunn who will be joining RogersGray as Partner and Executive Vice President.”

“When we began discussions with RogersGray, I was impressed by their top customer service and workplace ratings,” said David Dunn. “G.H. Dunn Insurance has experienced tremendous growth and by joining RogersGray, we can ensure that our customers will continue to receive quality service while providing them with access to new, innovative insurance products.” Citing RogersGray’s community involvement as another draw to the company, Dunn said, “The alignment was natural.  I’m excited to join this team.”

G.H. Dunn has been an independently-owned agency since 1924

A third-generation family-owned insurance agency, G.H. Dunn was founded in 1927 as the Ralph C. Dunn Insurance Agency. According to the GH Dunn website, before starting his eponymous agency, Ralph Dunn was a chicken farmer from Mattapoisett. In 1962, after purchasing the agency from his father, Giles H. Dunn changed the name of the agency to G.H. Dunn Insurance Agency. In 1995, his son David W. Dunn joined the agency, officially purchasing it from his father in 2003 as well as becoming the 3rd generation to own and operate the agency.

According to the terms of the agreement, all of G.H. Dunn’s staff will continue on with RogersGray after the merger as well as Mr. Dunn, as mentioned above. Clients of the former G.H. Dunn Insurance Agency will continue to be serviced from the former agency’s Buzzards Bay and Mattapoisett locations with the offices being re-branded under the RogersGray umbrella.
