Company returned as presenting sponsor, marking the Foundation’s 14th Year of Partnership with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
The Arbella Insurance Group (Arbella) was proud to be the presenting sponsor of the 20th annual WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon on August 23-24, 2022. The two-day event at Fenway Park supports the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in adult and pediatric cancer care and research. In addition to Arbella serving as presenting sponsor, the Arbella Insurance Foundation (Foundation) made a generous gift of $100,000 to the Jimmy Fund.
“As a longtime partner of Dana-Farber and Jimmy Fund, Arbella is thrilled to again be the presenting sponsor of the Radio-Telethon, particularly as we celebrate the Radio-Telethon’s 20th anniversary. Arbella’s support and the generous donations from so many have helped to change the lives of cancer patients of all ages. From one local company to another, Arbella is proud to support Dana-Farber and its mission to provide cancer care, education and prevention services,” said John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group and chairman of the Arbella Insurance Foundation. “We are truly lucky to have such a renowned cancer institute right here in our neighborhood.”
Over the years, the Arbella Foundation and Arbella Insurance Group employees and agents have contributed $1,406,749 to Dana-Farber as part of the Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon. This year’s $100,000 contribution supports several initiatives to engage the community in this important fundraising campaign, including:
- “Let’s Strike Out Cancer:” The Foundation will donate $50 for each strike out thrown by a Red Sox pitcher during the season.
- Matching gifts: The Foundation will match Arbella Insurance Group independent agent donations on a $2 for $1 basis up to $500 maximum from the Foundation per agency. For every donation to the Jimmy Fund by an Arbella Insurance Group employee, the Foundation will match the donation on a $1 for $1 basis under its matching gift program.
Since its founding in 1948, the Jimmy Fund has supported the fight against cancer in children and adults at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dana-Farber, internationally renowned for its blending of research and clinical excellence, supported more than 86,066 patients and was involved in 1,100 clinical trials in 2021. Last year’s Radio-Telethon raised $3.8 million, and since 2002, the event has generated more than $62 million to help raise the chances of survival for cancer patients worldwide.
