Arbella Insurance Group Among Most Charitable Companies in Massachusetts

September 13, 2024 by AC Editor

Interview with Arbella President & CEO John Donohue

The Boston Business Journal has named the Arbella Insurance Group (“Arbella”) an honoree in its 2024 Corporate Citizenship Awards, a recognition of the region’s top corporate charitable contributors. The Business Journal annually publishes this list to showcase companies that promote and prioritize giving back to their communities. 2024 marks Arbella’s 16th consecutive year of being recognized as a top charitable contributor in Massachusetts.

“It is with honor that we present our list of the Top Charitable Contributors in Massachusetts – companies who gave $100,000 or more to Massachusetts-based in charities in 2023. Collectively, they gave more than $362 million in cash contributions – a true example of the business community coming together to help those in need,” said Boston Business Journal’s Market President and Publisher, Carolyn Jones. “We are proud to celebrate these organizations who give both money and time to make Boston a stronger and better place for all.”

This year, 96 companies have qualified for the distinction by reporting at least $100,000 in cash contributions to Massachusetts-based charities in 2023. This year’s honorees include companies from industry sectors such as financial and professional services, health care, technology, retail, and professional sports.

“At Arbella, giving back to our communities has always been at the core of our mission, and in 2023, we were proud to provide support to over 500 charitable organizations that are making a true difference in our surrounding communities,” said John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group and chairman and president of the Arbella Insurance Foundation. “I am incredibly proud of the support Arbella offered last year – and for the past sixteen years – across key areas such as food insecurity, supportive housing, and immigration reform. The generosity and selflessness of our employees and agents continues to inspire me every day.”

Arbella, whose contributions in many instances include both the corporation and its charitable foundation, the Arbella Insurance Foundation, was honored at the BBJ’s 18th Annual Corporate Citizenship Awards on Thursday, September 5th.
