Former Mass. RMV Employee Sentenced And Fined For Conspiracy

April 6, 2014 by AC Editor

The former RMV employee was first charged in 2013

Alexander Brewer, 25, of Boston, has been sentenced to 24 months of probation and a $3,000 fine. The sentence was in response to Mr. Brewer’s role in a conspiracy to produce false information documents in his position as an employee of the Mass. RMV.

According to authorities, from December 2011 through December 2012, Mr. Brewer engaged in a conspiracy to issue legal Massachusetts drivers licenses to false applicants applying for drivers licenses at the Revere RMV branch. Mr. Brewer participated in a scheme in which certain individuals who presented legitimate Puerto Rican identity documents to Mr. Brewer, that in fact were not their own real identity, were issued official Mass. drivers licenses in order to conceal their own true identities.

Mr. Brewer, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to produce false identification documents, was first charged in the U.S. District Court in January of 2013. Under the statute he was charged with, the former RMV employee could have received up to five years in prison followed by three years of supervised release as well as up to a $250,000 fine.  Mr. Brewer pleaded guilty on May 7, 2013, before U. S. District Judge Mark I. Wolf. After various court continuances Judge Wolf sentenced Mr. Brewer on April 2, 2014.
