Vermont Mutual Completes Its Leadership Transition

July 14, 2015 by AC Editor

Mr. Bridge has become the 17th President  for the 187 year old company

Agency Checklists, MA Insurance News, Mass. Insurance NewsOn June 30th Vermont Mutual CEO William Catto officially retired from the 187-year old mutual company. As announced in early April of this year, his successor, President Daniel Bridge, was elected by the Board of Directors as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer. As part of the transition, Senior Vice President Mark McDonnell has been chosen to take the number two position in the company. He will partner with Mr. Bridge in leading the company.

“This completes a well-planned leadership transition that began several years ago”, said Bridge. “Since joining the company in 2014, Mark has made significant contributions to our organization and I look forward to partnering with him as we move the company forward.”

Bridge continued “I think I speak for both Mark and myself when I say we are excited about the future of this organization. We are fortunate to work with an exceptional team here at Vermont Mutual, comprised of both our dedicated employees and our agency partners.”

Both Mr. Bridge and Mr. McDonnell each have almost 30 years of insurance industry experience and have held a variety of leadership positions at national and regional carriers.  They will both be based in the company’s Montpelier, Vermont Home Office.

“Our goal,” McDonnell added “is to maintain the practices and measures that have produced a sustained period of extraordinary results for our organization and carefully modernize those areas that will benefit our customers, agency partners and staff.”
