Ms. Hubley is the first woman to be appointed as the President of the Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers
The Commissioner of Insurance Daniel Judson has approved the Governing Committee’s selection of Natalie Hubley as the new President of the Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers. Ms. Hubley replaces Mr. Judson who held the position until becoming the Commissioner of Insurance in April of this year. Ms. Hubley has been serving as the Acting President since Mr. Judson’s departure. For CAR, this will be the first time that a female will hold this position.
I thank the Governing Committee for its confidence and I greatly appreciate this opportunity. I would also like to thank the many staff and colleagues who have expressed their support. CAR’s committees have been considering a number of important issues in recent months, including commercial servicing carrier appointments, contracting and recusal policies, claims performance standards, MAIP quota share credits, and an office relocation in late 2016. I expect that my varied background at CAR will ensure a smooth transition as these issues are resolved and policies implemented.”
A 29-year veteran of CAR, Ms. Hubley has held a number of positions with the authority during her career and is intimately acquainted with the inner workings of CAR. Over the years, she has managed the staffs of the Financial, Statistical, Actuarial, Administrative, and Human Resources departments. Since 2007, Ms. Hubley has been a member of CAR’s Senior Management Team. As a result, she boasts extensive knowledge of all aspects of CAR as well as long and strong partnerships will the authority’s regulators and committees. Before becoming Acting President and now President, she was most recently CAR’s Vice President of Business Operations, Treasurer and Secretary.
How the Massachusetts insurance industry has responded to Ms. Hubley’s appointment
The Massachusetts Insurance Federation’s Executive Director John Murphy had nothing but praise for the new appointment. The Federation is the leading public policy trade association for the property/casualty insurance industry in Massachusetts.
Natalie Hubley’s appointment as the new President of Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers is an outstanding selection by the Governing Committee. Ms. Hubley is a highly qualified professional who brings a strong background and great expertise to this important position.”
On the agency side, the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents President & CEO Frank Mancini also thought the decision to appoint Ms. Hubley an inspired choice.
MAIA congratulates Natalie Hubley on her selection as the President of Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers (CAR). Natalie’s vast experience in the workings of the organization makes her the perfect individual to fill this important position within the Massachusetts insurance industry. During the critical period of the structuring and implementation of the assigned risk plan, Natalie played a significant role in the successful introduction of the MAIP to the marketplace. Her new role as the President of CAR, will assure a continued smooth operation of the residual market.”
