Union Mutual of Vermont Companies was founded in 1874 in Montpelier
Union Mutual of Vermont’s President and CEO Michael W. Nobles announced this month, the promotions of four Union Mutual employees, Jennifer P. Galfetti, Lisa L. Keysar, Gary H. Ouellette and Schuyler M. Ryan. According to the company announcement, Ms. Galfetti has been named the new Chief Financial Officer, while Ms. Keysar and Mr. Ouellette both were eleveated to Executive Vice President. Ms. Schuyler was promoted to Accounting Manager.
The promotions of Galfetti, Keysar and Ouellette were approved by Union Mutual’s Board of Directors during the insurer’s December meeting. Effective as Jan. 1, 2016, all will continue to be based at Union Mutual’s headquarters in Montpelier. Ms. Schuyler will based out of the company’s New York office.
“Our Companies and independent agency partners have experienced tremendous growth over the last few years and I am thrilled that we are able to recognize the efforts of our dedicated staff through continued expansion of their roles and responsibilities,” Nobles said.
Jennifer P. Galfetti
Ms. Galfetti first joined Union Mutual in 2009 after more than 15 years of diverse accounting and finance work. In 2013 she was promoted to Union Mutual’s Treasurer and elected to Community Mutual’s Board of Directors, two positions she will maintain. She received her BA in Accounting from the University of Vermont
Lisa L. Keysar
Lisa joined Union Mutual in 1995 after working several years at a national life insurance company. She has held numerous roles in her 20-year career at Union Mutual and was most recently the Company’s Senior Vice President of Client Services, where she directed the Claims and Customer Support departments. She is also the Corporate Secretary for Union Mutual and Community Mutual, two roles she will continue to hold.
Gary H. Ouellette
Gary joined Union Mutual in 1990 after beginning his career at Wang Laboratories in Lowell, Massachusetts. In his 25-year career at Union Mutual he has held several positions and was most recently the Company’s Senior Vice President of Operations, where he was responsible for Information Technology, the Project Management Office and Enterprise Risk. Gary is the Company’s Enterprise Risk Management officer and sits on Community Mutual’s Board of Directors.
In their new roles, both Ms. Keysar and Mr. Ouellette will each work closely with Mr. Nobles in setting the Company’s strategic direction and defining the short term objectives of the Group. They will also assume broader day to day responsibilities with Ms. Keysar taking a more active role with Union Mutual’s Underwriting and Marketing, while Mr. Ouellette focusing on the Companies’ Finance and Analytics teams. This past year, in 2015, both Ms. Keysar and Mr. Ouellette were the recipients of the inaugural Bridge Award from the Insurance Technology Association for their work to bridge the gap between business and information technology.
Schuyler M. Ryan
Ms. Ryan first joined Union Mutual as a Senior Accountant in 2014. She previously worked as a senior accountant at LeverPoint Management, LLC and as an associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP. In her new position, she will continue to be based out of Union Mutual’s Troy, New York office. While not approved by the Board of Directors, her promotion was also effective as of January 1, 2016.
