President and CEO Paul A. Quaranto, Jr. Elected Board Chairman
Canton-based Boston Mutual has announced that its current President and Chief Executive Officer, Paul A. Quaranto, Jr., has been elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Quaranto, who succeeds Paul Petry in the Chairman role, was elected during the life insurer’s annual meeting on April 20, 2016. He will continue to serve in his role as President and CEO in addition to Chairman of the 125 year-old company.
“This election completes a smooth and orderly transition which began back in 2012 when Paul was elected President,” said Paul Petry, former Chairman of the Board at Boston Mutual Life Insurance Company. “The Board of Directors is confident in Paul’s leadership and the strategic direction he has set for continued success in an ever changing environment. I am excited about the plans for the future and look forward to continuing to serve as a director.”
Mr. Quaranto’s career with Boston Mutual spans more than 25 years
Mr. Quaranto first joined Boston Mutual in 1990 and has served in a variety of positions with the life insurer. Until 2012, he served as the Vice President – Group Insurance. That year, he was elected President and Chief Operating Officer, until 2014 when he was Chief Executive Officer in addition to President.

Mr. Quaranto is a graduate of Colby College in Maine where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Administrative Science. After graduating Colby, he went on to obtain a master’s degree in business administration from Anna Maria College in Paxton, Massachusetts.
In addition to his lengthy career with Boston Mutual, Mr. Quaranto also is the Chairman of the Life Insurance Association of Massachusetts. He serves on the American Council of Life Insurers’ Forum 500 Board of Governors and is on the Development Board for My Brother’s Keeper, located in Easton, Massachusetts. He is also a fellow of the LIMRA Leadership Institute.

Founded in 1891 in Boston, the Canton-based life insurance company is currently celebrating its 125th this year. In May, the company will hold its annual General Agencies sales convention in Boston as a tribute to the city of its origin.
