“Insuretech” is the buzzword for the transformation of the insurance industry into the digital age. This industry is one of the last of large service industries to undergo the disruption of its established business model because of digitization of information.
The Insuretech connect conference in Las Vegas has become one of the most, if not the most, important conferences to monitor the digital products and services that may reshape the distribution channels for insurance services.
Agency Checklists is going to the Insuretech connect conference in Las Vegas October 2, and October 3, at the MGM Grand. We are looking for those startups and businesses that we can highlight that might enhance the value proposition for our independent agency readers or be of interest to the Massachusetts insurance industry.
The rapid growth of the number of quality of attendees
The first Insuretech connect occurred only in 2016. The growth of the attendees has been exponential. The attached graft shows the quadrupling in two years of the number of attendees to the six thousand who have registered for the 2018 conference
Of the Insuretech Connect’s six thousand 2018 attendees, more than one-third are executive level officers or owners of companies that range from privately held startups to publicly owned enterprises.
Three hundred speakers and panelists
The official program guide lists close to one hundred sessions and workshops for the over six thousand attendees to savor including topics ranging from artificial intelligence in insurance to a “spotlight on small commercial” insurance. The sessions and workshops have almost three hundred speakers listed or a ratio of one speaker for every fifteen attendees. The speakers include the CEOs of Lloyds, Marsh & McLellan, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, The Mayor of Hartford, and the chief digital officers of Marsh, Metropolitan Life, and Nationwide along with a large number of officers from less well-known companies.,
Exhibition hall with almost two hundred exhibitors
As important as the quality of the attendees and speakers, is the exhibition hall where almost two hundred exhibitors set up locations to explain to potential users, investors, or partners their products or services. Also, the exhibition hall has venture capitalists who have locations set up for “office hours” with Insuretech startups looking for capital.
Agency Checklists will report on any innovative products or services found for agents
If Agency Checklists finds any new products or services at Insuretech Connect that may offer independent agents a competitive advantage or business boost, we will be sure to bring them to our readers in our future posts.
