June 22, 2023 by AC Editor

Company ranked #1 in the extra-large business category

Quincy-based Arbella Insurance Group has been ranked number one on the Boston Business Journal’s “Best Places to Work” annual list. This is the 15th consecutive year the company has been named to the list in the extra-large business category. The award acknowledges companies of all sizes across the Greater Boston area that create high levels of employee satisfaction and positive workplace cultures. Arbella has been honored to be among the top businesses in our area since 2009.

“We’re incredibly proud to be voted the best place to work in Greater Boston,” said Ellen Mann, assistant vice president of human resources at the Arbella Insurance Group. “This award means so much to us because it comes from our amazing employees. We extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible team for their unwavering dedication and hard work, which has made this recognition possible.”

Based in Quincy, Mass., the Arbella Insurance Group is an A rated company by AM Best that employs more than 900 workers in the state of Massachusetts and is affiliated with a network of approximately 500 independent insurance agents across New England. Arbella is deeply committed to providing employees with both professional and personal support. The company offers a variety of educational and professional development programs and provides extensive onsite health and wellness activities, including personal training, nutrition classes, counseling and support for new moms transitioning back into the workforce after maternity leave.

Arbella strives to foster a hardworking, collaborative and charitable culture beyond the office. Through the Arbella Insurance Foundation, the company and its employees support a wide variety of nonprofit organizations, from hunger relief to educational initiatives. In 2022, the Foundation donated more than $3.6 million to support 623 different charitable organizations throughout New England. This past year, Arbella employees participated in a wide variety of charitable and volunteer events both as a company and in their personal time.

The Boston Business Journal’s annual “Best Places to Work” program recognizes 80 extra small, small, medium, large and extra-large sized businesses across Boston and the Greater Boston area, who share their abilities and resources to create appealing workplaces. To select the winners, employees from Massachusetts-based companies participate in an anonymous survey that asks about company benefits, atmosphere, values and loyalty. The results are analyzed by a third-party research firm, and the winners are broken down into five categories based on size.
