William H. Eastman has passed away. He was 69. A well-known Massachusetts independent insurance agent, Mr. Eastman was the former owner of the Eastman & Davis Insurance Agency of West Springfield.

In fact, Mr. Eastman had only recently retired, officially announcing, in a joint statement, that his agency had been acquired by the Insurance Center of New England effective January 1st, 2018.

It was through ICNE and their lovely remembrance of Mr. Eastman that Agency Checklists first learned about his passing. ICNE’s President and CEO Bill Trudeau was kind enough to let us share his post with you here:

As many of you know, on January 1st, the Eastman and Davis Insurance Agency merged with Insurance Center of New England. It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Bill Eastman. Bill’s career in insurance spanned 43 years starting with Allstate and then opening Eastman and Davis Insurance Agency in 1989. Bill took customer service and claims matters personally – working for clients no matter what it took. He also exuded positive energy in a way that made everyone want to be his friend. We will miss Bill, his warm smile and his caring ways.

Apart from his long and successful insurance career, Mr. Eastman’s obituary noted that he was an avid golfer, who also  “…enjoyed history, politics, war movies, boating, playing cards, and the casino.”

Originally from New York, Mr. Eastman was born in Elmira on April 30, 1948 to the late Herbert and Margaret (Day) Eastman. In addition to leaving behind his significant other, Marilyn Loudon of Chicopee, he also leaves behind his son Scott Eastman, daughters Karen Moriarty and Terri Shorey, his brother, Stephen Eastman, and sister, Katherine “JoAnne” Reed, along with their respective families.
