Thomas A. Harris Elected President & COO of Quincy Mutual

Mr. Harris has spent the majority of his insurance career with the Quincy-based insurer

Quincy Mutual has a new president. At the 2019 Board of Directors meeting, the Board elected Thomas A. Harris as President and Chief Operating Officer of both the Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Company and New England Mutual Insurance Company. Mr. Harris, who has spent almost three decades at Quincy Mutual was most recently Chief Risk Officer and Senior Vice President.

In commenting on the Board’s selection of Mr. Harris, K. Douglas Briggs, CPCU, who continues as the Chairman and CEO of the insurer, wrote the following in the company’s official announcement:

Tom has been with Quincy Mutual for twenty-eight years and has worked tirelessly to insure the success of the Company. He has worked closely with me over the years having served as the Company’s Treasurer, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer. In addition, he has been instrumental in developing the Company’s investment, enterprise risk management, and capital strategies.

Other leadership announcements were made during the Annual Board of Directors meeting as well

In addition to Mr. Harris’ appointment, the Board of Directors also announcement the election of Joseph B. White. After a 25 years as an attorney, most recently as a senior partner at Robinson & Cole, Mr. White joins Quincy Mutual Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel of the Group.

In addition, the Board announced that Brian J. Cadigan, will remain as Vice President of Marketing. With the retirement of former Executive Vice President, Kevin Meskell, earlier this year, however, Mr. Cadigan also has been appointed as Chief Marketing Officer. In commenting on Mr. Cadigan’s additional responsibilities, Mr. Briggs noted, that he “…oversees our social media efforts and agency council and has done an outstanding job bringing a consistent marketing message to our agents and collaborating with our underwriting team.”

Quincy Mutual has been rated A+ by AM Best for 50 consecutive years

Quincy Mutual has been operating as a mutual insurer in Massachusetts for over 160+ years and sells a variety of insurance products through its 500 independent agency partners. Currently rated A+ (superior) by A.M. Best, it is a designation the company has held for more than 50 consecutive years.
