Arbella Promotes William Hughes to Vice President of Commercial Lines

The Arbella Insurance Group is pleased to announce the promotion of William Hughes to vice president of its Commercial Lines division. In his new role, Hughes will lead the Commercial Lines team and will continue to foster relationships with Arbella’s independent agents. He will report directly to John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of Arbella Insurance Group.

“Bill is a strong relationship builder,” said Donohue. “He is very well respected by our independent agents and is deeply committed to continuing to foster these relationships. He is an excellent leader and has always been a go-to person for all commercial solutions. He is also well respected by his staff, peers and the entire executive team.”

Hughes’ insurance career spans 30 years. He has been with Arbella for eight of those years with his most recent position being the assistant vice president of commercial lines. He has expertise in loss control, underwriting and has his CPCU designation. Prior to joining Arbella in 2012, Hughes worked with HUB International and Liberty Mutual in sales leadership roles where he honed his leadership skills and gained deep knowledge of commercial products. Hughes began his career at Kemper Insurance.

As vice president, Hughes will join Arbella’s executive team where he will play a large role in continuing to drive Arbella’s commercial business strategy.

Hughes received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He has two grown children and resides in Marblehead, MA with his wife, Ann.
