Merger Between The Dowd Agencies & J. Raymond Lussier Insurance Complete

February 2, 2021 by AC Editor

The new West Springfield location will be called Lussier-Dowd Insurance

The Dowd Agencies, a family-owned and operated independent insurance agency for over 120 years, and the J. Raymond Lussier Insurance Agency of West Springfield have merged their operations. Going forward the company will be known as Lussier-Dowd Insurance.

“We’re excited for the Lussier Agency to be part of our team. I have known the Lussier family for many years and they have always been a highly professional, customer-driven insurance agency,” added John E. Dowd Jr., president, and CEO of The Dowd Agencies. “We are also excited to have a location in the fine town of West Springfield.”

With the completion of the merger, Lussier Insurance’s former West Springfield location expands Dowd’s geographic footprint to include six offices located throughout the Pioneer Valley. The new office, located at 181 Park Avenue, is minutes from Routes 5 and 20, and Interstates 91, 291, and 391. An open house will be planned at a later date.

The West Springfield office will be a full-service insurance agency providing Personal, Commercial, Wealth Management, and Employee Benefits products and services.

A native of West Springfield, David W. Griffin Jr., vice president of The Dowd Agencies, is especially excited about his company planting roots in his hometown. “I was born and raised in West Side so it is particularly exciting for me. More importantly, West Side is a great and vibrant town here in western Mass.”

More about The Dowd Agencies

A full-service agency, The Dowd Agencies has been helping people and businesses in western Massachusetts with their personal insurance, commercial insurance, employee benefits, and financial needs for over 120 years. The Dowd Agencies also have strategically partnered with Quincy Mutual. See Agency Checklists’ article of June 21, 2016, “Quincy Mutual Makes First Agency Investment With New Subsidiary.”

Established in Holyoke in 1898 by James J. Dowd, The Dowd Agencies claim to be the oldest insurance agency in Massachusetts with operations and management under continuous family ownership. Today the fifth generation of Dowds provides counsel and coverage advice from six locations in western Massachusetts.
