World Insurance Associates Acquires the 174-Year Old Allan M. Walker Insurance Agency

July 18, 2022 by AC Editor

Following its acquisition of Belmont-based Commercial Insurance Agency, World Insurance Associates continues to expand its geographic footprint in Massachusetts with another agency acquisition. On July 15th, the New Jersey based top 50 insurance broker announced that it had purchased the Allan M. Walker Insurance Agency, one of the Commonwealth’s oldest independent agencies. The transaction was effective as of June 1, 2022. No other terms of the transaction were disclosed.

“I’d like to welcome Allan M. Walker to the World family,” says Rich Eknoian, CEO and Co-Founder of WIA. “They are experienced insurance professionals, and well known for the personalized service they provide to their clients, and I know they will fit nicely in the World organization.”

An independent agency since 1847

Founded in 1847, the Allan M Walker Insurance Agency has been selling insurance uninterrupted in Taunton and the surrounding area for 174 years. While originally founded by one Phillip Hill, the company had various owners until 1948 when Allan Walker purchased it, 101 years after its inception. Since then, the agency has retained Mr. Walker’s name and grown into a well-known independent agency. Ultimately acquired by the Paul Peters Town Crier Group of Falmouth Massachusetts, the Group hired Joseph I. Quinn in 1958 as president and manger of the Taunton office. The agency is now run by Michael and Terry Quinn, who serve as President and Vice President, respectively.

A full-service agency, the Walker Agency sells both commercial and personal insurance, as well as bonds. According to the terms of the agreement, the Walker Agency and its staff will continue on after the merger.

“Today we are grounded in our roots, but we are looking forward to the future, says Michael Quinn, President, Allan M. Walker. “As part of World we will have even more products and services to offer our valued clients”. “A one-size-fits-all just doesn’t apply to insurance, which is why every client gets our undivided attention,” says Terry Quinn, Vice President, Allan M. Walker. “We will continue this approach as part of World.”
