FBinsure COO Nicole Martorana Appointed to CAR Governing Board

November 3, 2022 by AC Editor

FBinsure is proud to announce our Chief Operating Officer, Nicole Martorana, CIC, CRM has been appointed to the Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers (CAR) Governing Board. As a result of this appointment by Insurance Commissioner Gary Anderson, Ms. Martorana will play an integral role in representing the interests of local agents and the driving public in decisions made by the board.

A recent change by Governor Baker to the FY23 budget allowed for additional insurance agency representation on the governing board to balance the 13 members, with representation from six insurance companies, six insurance agencies, and a domestic insurer with less than 2.5% of the MA auto insurance market.

The Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers is the industry operated residual market and statistical agent for motor vehicle insurance in Massachusetts. As explained on their website, Commauto.com, “CAR provides access to private passenger and commercial motor vehicle liability and physical damage insurance to the segment of the state’s motoring public that is unable to obtain coverage through the voluntary market.” The body also collects, processes, and provides loss and premium data to the Automobile Insurers Bureau of Massachusetts, the Merit Rating Board, and the Highway Loss Data Institute.

FBinsure’s presence in the Massachusetts industry has steadily continued to grow in 2022, with Nicole Martorana’s thirteen-year tenure leading Operations playing a large role in the success of the thriving insurance agency.  “As a member of the insurance industry for over a decade, I am especially honored to be selected as a member of the CAR Governing Board. I look forward to the privilege of participating and offering my expertise, on behalf of our local insurance agents and the communities we serve.” said Nicole Martorana.
