Quincy Mutual to Mark 175th Anniversary in 2026

January 3, 2026 by AC Editor

Major milestone for the Quincy-based New England mutual

Quincy Mutual Fire Insurance Company will celebrate its 175th year in business in 2026. Founded in 1851, Quincy Mutual Group is a New England mutual insurer headquartered in Quincy, Massachusetts, offering personal and commercial insurance across the Northeast.

The company said it will release additional 175th anniversary announcements throughout 2026.

From “basic fire insurance” to broader property and liability offerings

Quincy Mutual said its name has remained unchanged for more than 170 years, while the products and services it provides have expanded well beyond the basic fire insurance it began with more than a century and a half ago.

Today, the company said it offers a wide range of insurance products designed to protect the property and liability needs of individuals and businesses.

Distribution footprint: independent agents across New England, plus New York

Quincy Mutual said it distributes policies through more than 500 independent insurance agents located throughout the New England states as well as New York.

Scale and service metrics highlighted by the company

In describing its operating focus, Quincy Mutual emphasized competitive pricing, coverage value, and professional, efficient service. The company also highlighted the following operating statistics:

  • More than 275,000 policyholders served
  • More than 30,000 claims handled each year

The company said the “true test” of an insurance company occurs when an insured sustains a claim, and that it handles claims in a professional, fair, and caring manner.

Premium volume and subsidiary operations

Quincy Mutual said it continues to build on its heritage and, together with its wholly owned Maine subsidiary, The Patrons Oxford Insurance Company, Quincy Mutual Group writes over $275 million of insurance premiums.

Ratings: A+ (Superior) from AM Best

Quincy Mutual said it is rated A+ (Superior) by A.M. Best and that it has earned that designation for more than 50 consecutive years.
