DOI To Hold Public Hearing On Proposed Amendments To Regulations Concerning Consumer Protection In Annuity Transactions

A hearing on Proposed Amendments to 211 CMR 96.00 will take place early next year

The Massachusetts Division of Insurance has announced that it will hold a public meeting early next year to discuss Proposed Amendments to 211 CMR 96.00 pdf format of 211-96-redlined.pdf<br /><br /><br /><br />
, entitled “Consumer Protection In Annuity Transactions.” The proposed amendments aim to bring the current regulations into compliance with the updated NAIC Model regulations. This will include adding training requirements for the selling of annuities by insurance producers.

The public hearing will be held on January 15, 2015 at 10:00AM in the offices of the Division of Insurance at 1000 Washington Street, Boston, MA 02118-6200. The Docket Numbers for this hearing is G2014-08.

Any individual who wishes to provide either oral or written testimony concerning this regulation may do so by filing a Notice of Intent with the DOI Docket Clerk by 4:00PM, January 14, 2015. Those who wish to submit written comments may do so until the record of the hearing is closed. Submissions may either be mailed or emailed. The address for mailed submissions is as follows:

 Submissions to be sent by electronic mail should be addresses to doidocket.mailbox@state.ma.us. Please make sure to reference Docket No. G2014-08 in the subject line of the email.  Persons who do not file a Notice of Intent to Comment will be heard after those who notify the Division in advance of the hearing.
