Mass. RMV News: New Online Payment Scheme & Boston/Lawrence Survey Sweepstakes This Week

November 2, 2015 by AC Editor

The Boston Branch Survey is being held this week only

The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles has launched an on-line survey this week about its Boston/Haymarket Branch. The Boston survey is part of the Lawrence/Boston Customer Service RMV Sweepstakes the RMV is currently holding from October 26, 2015 through November 22, 2015. At the end of the sweepstakes one RMV customer will be awarded a new iPad Air.

While the RMV held its open survey of the Lawrence branch las week, interested the RMV is currently accepting surveys of its Boston branch during the during the week of November 2 – 6, 2015. A link to complete the brief survey is here.

RMV debuts new online payment system for Road Test & License Fees

In additional RMV news, the Registry also recently announced that it can now accept payment for a road test or License fee online. With an online payment, Class D or M (Passenger or Motorcycle) may be able to avoid a trip to an RMV branch to have their licensed issued. The following guidelines outline the new payment process:

Passenger or Motorcycle (Class D or M)

If you hold a Passenger or Motorcycle permit, you must:

  • have passed your road test
  • have no outstanding obligations (to see if you have any outstanding obligations, click here)
  • have paid all road test and License issuance fees

Your new License will be mailed to the address on record and you should receive it within 5 – 7 business days.

Commercial (Class A, B, or C)

If you hold a Commercial Driver’s License/Permit, you may pay your road test/License fees online. However, you must visit an RMV branch after passing your road test to have the License issued.

You may pay by credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa) or electronic check (E-Check).

To begin, you will need to enter your Name (as it appears on your Permit/License), Date of Birth, Permit/License Number and Email Address.

This is a great thing for agents to mention to insureds who may have permit holders in their household. Another way to save your clients time and money and to keep them up-to-date on what is happening at the Registry.
