Kaplansky Insurance Acquires The Doherty & White Insurance Agency

The Doherty & White Agency is an independent agency based in Quincy

Kaplansky Insurance announced this past week that it has acquired the Doherty & White Insurance Agency of Quincy. According to the terms of the transaction, Michael Noone CIC, Vice President of Operations for Kaplansky Insurance and Suzanne Freeman, Weymouth Branch Manager will coordinate the merger. Further terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1983 by Robert & Ginger Doherty, the Doherty & White Insurance Agency was has been a
family owned & operated agency in Quincy for over thirty years.

“We are thrilled that we are able to associate with an agency with such a superb reputation,” said Ely Kaplansky, president and CEO of Kaplansky Insurance. “For over three decades, Doherty & White Insurance, has been committed to providing local residents and businesses across Massachusetts with quality insurance and risk coverage.”

This is the 22nd acquisition for the independent agency

With this announcement, Kaplansky Insurance has now acquired 22 agencies in Massachusetts, with no plans to slow down.

“Our expansion plan is on target,” explained Mr. Kaplansky. “We are continuing our search for profitable, quality agencies. We expect to continue to enhance our growth through both acquisitions and a strong focus on organic sales and marketing.”

The agency, begun by Ely Kaplansky in 1974, now operates out of 11 different locations throughout eastern and central Massachusetts. The agency is a recipient of their fifth consecutive “Five Star” award of distinction from the MAIA, which recognizes the achievement of being “one of the best” at providing superior knowledge, service and value. It is also a three-time recipient of the IIABA’s “Best Practices” award which recognizes The Best Practices of the Leading Independent Insurance Agencies in the United States.
