WTPhelan Acquires The Martini Agency of Woburn

March 22, 2016 by AC Editor

The acquisition was effective as of January 1, 2016

Agency Checklists, MA Insurance News, Mass. Insurance NewsCambridge’s WTPhelan has announced the acquisition of The Martini Agency of Woburn. The Martini Agency, which has been based in Woburn for over 40 years, was incorporated into the WTPhelan family on January 1, 2016.

According to the terms of the transaction, former Martini insurance customers will continue to have their policies handled at the former Martini offices located at 6 Common Street Woburn, MA.

At WTPhelan, we are committed to providing exceptional service, and we are honored that Mr. Martini has entrusted our agency to take care of his customers” said Robert Ramsey, the Agency’s Vice President.   “We are delighted to welcome the Martini customers to the WTPhelan community, and are confident that we will provide them with the same level of integrity and care they have received from the Martini family over the past 56 years.”

Founded in 1960 by John C. Martini, the Martini Agency was most recently run by Mr. Martini’s daughter, Julie Martini-Caldwell. Upon making the decision to retire from the Massachusetts insurance industry after 56 years, Mr. Martini made the decision to sell to another local, family-owned agency. One of the most important factors to Mr. Martini, in making the decision to sell, was his knowledge that the Phelan Agency would be able to provide a seamless transition for all of his valued customers. Another crucial factor was that all three of his children, Julie, Michael, and Kathy, would be able to remain on at the Woburn office of WTPhelan going forward.

WTPhelan’s growing presence in Middlesex County…

With the announcement of the acquisition of The Martini Agency, WTPhelan has acquired some 12  in the past decade. Robert J. Ramsey, Vice President of WTPhelan says that “While each transaction is unique, we have been lucky to develop close personal relationships with all of our sellers. These transactions have also benefited our agency in that we have inherited some incredibly talented employees and managers.”

WTPhelan is a fourth generation family-owned and operated insurance agency founded in Cambridge in 1898. Over the years, the agency has focused on creating a strong brand presence in the greater Middlesex County area. In terms of dealing with the management of the agencies as well as convenience for our customers, Mr. Ramsey told Agency Checklists in a previous interview that it while not ruling out expansion into other geographic areas, the company is happy focusing on one area as it is much easier to have all of our offices in close proximity to one another so as to guarantee the same customer experience for our clients no matter which branch they enter into.
