Charles “Charley” Brophy of Hub International New England was presented with the 2016 Insurance Professional of the Year Award
On Friday, October 14, 2016 over 560 members of the Massachusetts insurance industry came together to toast the 15th Annual Insurance Professional of the Year Winner. This year’s attendance set a new record for the luncheon, with over 50 more attendess than last year, which was also another record-setting year. The annual awards luncheon held in the Imperial Ballroom at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel honored Charles Brophy, the Chief Executive Officer and President of HUB International New England.
Once again the Insurance community turned out in record numbers at the Park Plaza to honor one its own, Charles Brophy as the Insurance Professional of the Year,” said Glenn Cryan, the Insurance Library’s Executive Director. “The Insurance Library Association wishes to thank all those in attendance and congratulate Charles Brophy for this well-deserved honor.”
Established in 2002 by the Richard Simches Fund, the Insurance Professional of the Year Award is presented each year by The Insurance Library Association of Boston to “…a person who demonstrates leadership and exemplifies those qualities that engender understanding of and respect for the insurance industry.” The selection process is conducted by a cross-section of the insurance industry and as such carries with it that added significance.
The Awards Ceremony
The day began with a cocktail hour and silent auction giving everyone a chance to hobnob and catch up with colleagues old and new from both agencies and insurance carriers alike.
Among those in attendance to honor Mr. Brophy included the 2015 IPYA Award Winner John Myers, the 2014 IPYA Award winner and MAIA President & CEO Francis A. Mancini. Also making an appearance was the 2013 winner and Vice Chairman of Arbella, Francis X. Bellotti, Commissioner of Insurance Daniel Judson, Insurance Library of Boston’s Executive Director Glenn Cryan, former Executive Director Jean Lucey, and Library Trustees along with many professionals from the major Massachusetts-based insurers.
