Kaplansky Insurance has acquired the George Gath Insurance Agency, Inc. of Lowell. Founded by George Gath in 1972, the Gath Insurance Agency has operated as  a full-service agency in Lowell for over 40 years. Mr. Gath continues to run the agency as founder along with Susan Gath Koerber, who is President. No further terms of the transaction were announced.

In commenting on the acquisition, Kaplansky President and CEO Ely Kaplansky said:“ The exemplary leadership, staff, and reputation for being a client-focused organization with strong community ties makes Gath an excellent addition to our growing agency.”

The acquisition of Gath Insurance, announced on June 19th, marks the 27th official agency acquisition for the Needham-based agency. This is the second acquisition for the Kaplansky Insurance in the last two month, with the agency having just announced its 26th acquisition in early May. Mr. Kaplansky says the company will continue to drive its expansion through acquisitions. “We continue to pursue our search for profitable, quality agencies who have a solid reputation both in terms of underwriting and quality of service,” noted Mr.Kaplansky. With the acquisition of Gath Insurance, Kaplansky Insurance has expanded its footprint into Northern Massachusetts.
