The investiture of the MAIW’s 2018-2019 Officers
The officers were installed at the MAIW’s May Association Meeting
On May 5, 2018, during the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women May Association Meeting, the Association installed its incoming President and Officers for the 2018-2019 year.

Monique Duquette, CISR, CPIW, CPIA is installed as President for a second term
Monique has been working in the insurance industry since 1987 working at both the company and agency levels with experience in both Personal and Commercial Lines. She is currently employed with the Rogers & Gray Insurance Agency in the Wareham office as a Personal Lines Client Manager.
Since joining MAIW in 2010, Monique has held numerous positions within the Plymouth Chapter such as Membership Chair, Program Chair, Safety Chair, Education Chair, Assistant Director and Director. Monique was awarded the Plymouth Chapter Rookie of the Year in 2010 and Member of the Year in 2013.
At the association level, Monique has served as Safety Chair, Education Co-Chair, Vice President, President Elect and is the current MAIW President. She is currently working on the CISR Elite designation as well as the AINS designation.
Jocelyn Dewey, ACSR, AAI, CPCU is the 2018-2019 President-Elect
Jocelyn has been working in the insurance industry for the past 14 years. She is currently Chief Operations Officer at DeCotis Specialty Insurance, an excess and surplus lines wholesaler and managing general agent based in Providence, RI. Prior to joining DeCotis, Jocelyn held personal lines underwriting positions for both national and regional insurance carriers.
Jocelyn is a graduate of Green Mountain College (VT) and is a licensed property and casualty producer holding her ACSR, AAI, and CPCU designations. She also recently completed the NAPSLO advanced School in St. Louis, MO.
Jocelyn has been a member of MAIW since 2013. She has served as Bristol Chapters Membership Chair, Education Chair and Chapter Director. She was Government Affairs Chair at the association level prior to stepping in as President-Elect. She currently resides in East Providence, RI, with her three Chihuahua’s, Bella Mia, Dolly Anne, & Ginger Belle.
Laura Sewall, CIC, CISR is the 2018-2019 Vice President
Laura has worked at the agency level in the insurance industry for 30 years. She is currently employed by Eastern Insurance Group as an Account Manager II in the Personal Lines Dept. where she has been for the past 13 years. Along with the Personal Lines Dept. she also works in a Specialty Firearms Insurance Program within Eastern. She earned the CISR Designation in 1995 and the CIC Designation in 2002. She is also a Notary Public.
Since joining MAIW in 2008, she has held numerous positions for Plymouth Chapter such as Government Affairs, Safety, Membership. She has also been the Chapter’s Assistant Director and is currently the Chapter Director. She was awarded Chapter Rookie of the Year in 2009 and Chapter Member of the Year in 2013 and 2017. At the Association level, she is the current Vice President and Bylaws Chair. She has enjoyed attending the State Association Meetings for the past several years.
She enjoys spending time with friends and her 2 children, Derek and Miranda. She also devotes time helping with Community Service projects or participating in events such as walking the Jimmy Fund 26.6 marathon route or volunteering at the Wellfleet PANMASS Challenge water stop in support of the Dana Farber.
Laura finds it very rewarding to be a member of MAIW, not only for the education and the friendships that are a huge part of this organization, but for helping her become a more confident individual.
Elizabeth Brothers, CISR is the 2018-2019 MAIW Secretary
Liz started in the insurance industry 40 years ago. She is currently employed at William. F. Borhek Insurance Agency as a Personal Lines Account Executive.
Liz joined MAIW in 2013. At the Chapter level, she held several positions including Public Relations Chair, Chapter Treasurer, Secretary and Assistant Director. Currently she is the association Secretary and will be Plymouth Chapter Director the coming year.
She is currently working on obtaining her CPIA designation. She finds the experience of belonging to MAIW very rewarding and credits the association for helping her with her personal goals and becoming a stronger, more confident woman.
She enjoys spending time with her husband Larry and being with friends and family.
Heather Heffernan is the MAIW 2018-2019 Treasurer
Heather is a meticulous, accomplished accounting professional who has more than 15 years of progressively responsible accounting experience across various industries including manufacturing, construction and public accounting. She attended Xavier University and graduated Cum Laude with a B.S.B.A. degree in Accounting. Her past experiences in leading roles have prepared her for her current position as Controller at Sylvia Group, and she looks forward to obtaining her Masters’ degree and CPA Certificate.
Outside of her work environment, Heather and her husband enjoy spending time outdoors, particularly hiking and running, and they devote much of their time in support of their community as well as various local charities such as the Children’s Advocacy Center of Bristol County, the American Cancer Society, St. Jude, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Zenaide Noia, CISR, AII, CPIA is the Immediate Past-President
Zenaide joined MAIW in 2009. She has served as Bristol Chapter Public Relation Chair, Chapter Director and Chapter Scholarship Co Chair. She is a Past-President of MAIW and served as President-Elect and Budget & Finance Committee Chair. Zenaide is a Graduate of Fisher College with a degree in Business.
She is employed with Sylvia Group Insurance Agency of North Dartmouth, MA. Zenaide has held many positions there including Sales Center Coordinator, Data Processing Supervisor, Accounting, Assistant Account Manager and is currently a Personal Lines Account Manager.
Katryne Beckwith, CPIW is the MAIW Parliamentarian
Kathy has been a member of MAIW for 40 years. She has served as a Chapter Director and as MAIW, Inc. President from 1990 to 1991.
Additionally, she has served on numerous committees and as a seminar leader. She is employed by Lumber Insurance Companies (In Receivership) as a multi-state workers’ compensation claims examiner.
Glynnis Walbridge, CPIW is named as the MAIW’s Key Member
Glynnis has over 30-years’ experience in the insurance industry. She has her broker’s license in Property & Casualty as well as Life and Health.
One of her functions with MAIW is writing and teaching classes. Glynnis is a past President of MAIW, past Parliamentarian, past Membership Chairman and currently serves as Chairman of the Education Committee and Co-Chair of the Marketing Committee.
The organization is now in its 80th year of operation
Founded in 1938, the MAIW’s missions and goals continue to be the same ones that it started with “…to provide opportunities for insurance professionals to both further their education and alliances within the Massachusetts insurance industry.”
Currently, the organization has ten chapters that meet regularly throughout the year in different regions of the Commonwealth. In addition, the MAIW’s holds association-wide meetings held throughout the year.
For those insurance professionals interested in joining the MAIW, the non-profit organization is open to anyone living or working in an insurance-related occupation in Massachusetts. For those interested in joining the organization, the MAIW suggests the attendance at one of its monthly Chapter meetings to learn more.
