450 Insurance Agents Come Together In Massachusetts For The SAN Group Annual Meeting

May 7, 2019 by AC Editor

“Agency of the Future” was this year’s theme

Approximately 450 insurance industry professionals came together last week in Worcester for the Satellite Agency Network (SAN) Group, Inc.’s Annual Business Meeting on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. As in past years, this year’s event was held at the DCU Center in Worcester, MA. The theme of this year’s annual meeting focused on building the “Agency of the Future”.

“The SAN Group’s Annual Meeting is a great opportunity to discuss key issues and changes impacting insurance agencies today,” said Matt Masiello, SAN President and CEO. “Running an efficient digital agency will provide a better client experience and keep agents competitive for years to come.”

The SAN Group is currently the largest alliance of independent insurance agencies in the Northeast, with members hailing from eight different states. The alliance counts more than 370 members and had a 30% membership increase in the first half of 2018. All together SAN Group members represent more than $800 million in in-force premium.

Highlights and awards from the meeting

The one-day event brought together SAN member agencies along with partner companies, vendors, and SAN/SIAA staff for a day full of workshops, awards for excellence, anniversary recognition, networking reception, check distribution along with a keynote address and trade show. This year featured eight different workshops focused on helping members build their agency of the future “one that evolves to the digital space in addition to traditional brick and mortar.”

The adjacent Trade Show hosted 55 booths featuring the major sponsors of this year’s meeting including Platinum Sponsors: The Hartford, Liberty Mutual, Travelers, Safeco Insurance, Nationwide, MetLife, Berkshire Hathaway GUARD, Concord Group Insurance, Quincy Mutual Group, Risk Placement Services, Chubb, CRC Group, and EZLynx.

Standout from the Crowd

Topping off this year’s event was the annual keynote address giving during the luncheon. This year Connie Podesta, a Hall of Fame speaker, award-winning author, and human relations expert spoke at the event. A popular author, Connie Podesta has written numerous books, including Life Would Be Easy If It Weren’t for Other People, How to Be the Person Successful Companies Fight to Keep, Self-Esteem and the Six-Second Secret and Make a Fortune Selling to Women. Her newest book, 10 Ways to Stand Out from the Crowd, was awarded the Independent Publishers Gold Medal for “Best Business Book of the Year.”
