Jonathan Becker Succeeds Terry Moore as Vice President of Underwriting at Vermont Mutual

May 29, 2020 by Agency Checklists

Jonathan Becker

Vermont Mutual Insurance has appointed Jonathan Becker as the company’s new Vice President of Underwriting. He replaces retiring Vice President of Underwriting, Terry J. Moore, who leaves after leading Vermont Mutual’s underwriting department for the past five years.

Speaking of Moore’s retirement, Vermont Mutual’s Executive Vice President and COO, Mark McDonnell, stated “This is certainly a bittersweet moment for the Company. While we are grateful to have found a talented new Underwriting Vice President in Jonathan Becker, we are at the same time saying goodbye to a seasoned leader, colleague, and friend.” McDonnell continued “Not only has Terry been instrumental in delivering exceptional business results, he has also developed an incredibly positive culture in underwriting that will live on long after his departure.”

As for Mr. Becker’s incorporation into the company, Mr. McDonnell said “We’re very fortunate to have attracted a professional with Jonathan’s business expertise, but maybe even more so, someone with an approach to leadership and personal engagement that aligns very well with our culture at Vermont Mutual. He is a terrific addition to our team and someone we expect will be a great steward of the excellent results our company has produced and the agency relationships that are so important to us.”

Dan Bridge, Vermont Mutual’s President and CEO, commenting on the leadership change, noted “Terry has been an invaluable asset to Vermont Mutual and was instrumental in leading numerous key initiatives for the department. His extensive knowledge of the industry, professionalism and strong leadership qualities gained him the respect of all those fortunate enough to work with him.”

Referring to Mr. Becker’s addition to the company, Mr. Bridge remarked “we’re very pleased to have found such a capable person in Jonathan, who can build on the great work Terry has done these past 5 years. On behalf of everyone at Vermont Mutual, I want to thank Terry for his many contributions and leadership and we wish him the very best in his retirement, as well as welcome Jonathan to the Vermont Mutual team.”

The new Vice President of Underwriting, Jonathan Becker, recently served as the Regional Vice President and Branch Manager of a New England-based commercial property and casualty insurance company. Mr. Becker began his insurance career nearly 25 years ago and has held positions in underwriting at Chubb, Travelers and Fireman’s Fund, as well as roles in marketing, loss control, claims and policy rating.

Mr. Becker will be operating from the Company’s headquarters in Montpelier, Vermont.
