The Insurance Library of Boston is the oldest private library dedicated to insurance
BOSTON, MA – January 29, 2021 – Michael Albert of Ask Kodiak, Kristine Bell of Philadelphia Insurance, and Dan Mastrototaro of The Hanover Insurance Group, Inc. were recently elected to the Board of Trustees of The Insurance Library, the nation’s only independent library focused on insurance and risk management.
“The Insurance Library is fortunate to have a strong board composed of leaders in insurance, law, accounting, and related disciplines. We welcome these new members who will help guide the Library as it continues to grow in offering services and programming,” commented Leslie Emack, senior vice president at Risk Strategies and president of the Library’s Board of Trustees.
Michael Albert
Albert is a cofounder of Ask Kodiak, a commercial insurance insurtech search engine that helps agents & brokers find markets for their commercial risks and enables carriers to keep their producers up-to-date on their product offerings.
Prior to founding Ask Kodiak, Albert served in senior technology leadership roles in product and strategy. A specialist in the art of application design and user experience, he has extensive experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, having worked with carriers of all sizes and leading teams that have built exceptional software for agents, underwriters, and policyholders. He previously served as the senior vice president of strategy for AgencyPort, a software provider to the property and casualty insurance industry.
Albert holds a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University.
Kristine Bell
Bell is a senior specialty underwriter with Philadelphia Insurance Company’s Management & Professional Liability Division, responsible for underwriting management liability lines including D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, Crime, E&O, Cyber Liability, Workplace Violence and Kidnap, Ransom & Extortion Coverage.
Bell is a founding member and current vice president of the Boston Chapter of the National African American Insurance Association. She is also an active member of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society and was selected by PLUS as a 2017 LAMP Scholar.
Bell began her career with Chubb in 2011 as a surety underwriting trainee, handling both contract and commercial surety. She joined the Commercial Surety Home Office team in 2012 and in 2015 moved into the management liability underwriting role where she developed an expertise in the executive risk portfolio of products.
Bell is a 2011 graduate of Vassar College with a double major in mathematics and economics. She was a member of Vassar’s varsity women’s squash team and led the team as captain in her senior year.
Dan Mastrototaro
Active in various community enhancement efforts, Mastrototaro has chaired regional boards of directors for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Junior Achievement in Worcester, and has served on boards at Worcester State University, Habitat for Humanity, and the Christa McAuliffe Charter School in Framingham. He also previously served on the board of InVEST, which focuses on driving insurance education and programs to high school and college students throughout the
United States.
Mastrototaro is the regional executive for Hanover’s New England territory, where he is responsible for commercial insurance operations across the six-state region. In his 34 years with the company, he has held a variety of business management and leadership roles. Prior to serving in his current capacity, he led Hanover’s Southern California operations.
Mastrototaro is a graduate of Assumption University in Worcester with a concentration in mathematics.
The Library’s membership also re-elected the following trustees to three-year terms: Amy L. DiPerna of Andover Companies; Meredith Mangan of Lexington/AIG; Christopher F. Schenck of Knapp Schenck Insurance Agency; and Michael B. Weinberg of Freeman, Mathis & Gray, LLP.
The following individuals were elected by the Library’s board to serve in officer positions: Leslie Emack, president; Meredith Mangan, first vice president; Sonya Ross of Northeastern University, second vice president; Nancy Adams of Mintz, counsel; Erin Cummings of Norfolk & Dedham Group, immediate past president.
