Swansea-based Partners Insurance Group has welcomed one of Tiverton, Rhode Island’s oldest independent agencies to its ranks, the Interstate Insurance and Finance Company.

A third-generation owned & operated independent agency in Rhode Island
Established in 1936, Interstate Insurance and Finance Company is a third-generation, family operated firm offering auto, home, business, and life insurance throughout both Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts for 85 years. The company was founded by John E. Ibbotson and Ernest E. Lake; Ibbotson was the grandfather of the firm’s present-day principals Robert Hartnett, Bethann H. Allcock, Susan Gustafson and Cheryl Hartnett. From its beginning, the mission of Interstate Insurance and Finance Company has been to support Tiverton and the surrounding communities by not only providing products to meet their insurance and financial needs, but to also offer advice, guidance and support in the event of a loss.
According to the terms of the transaction, effective as of February 1, 2021, in addition to acquiring all of the assets of the Tiverton, Rhode Island-based agency, the agency’s four employees will also be retained by Partners.
