Each week the AAA provides an update on gas prices throughout the country and the Commonwealth
Westwood, MA — Massachusetts’s average gas price is down two cents from last week ($2.76), averaging $2.74 per gallon. Today’s price is 8 cents higher than a month ago ($2.66), and 69 cents higher than April 5, 2020 ($2.05). Massachusetts’s average gas price is 13 cents lower than the national average.
“We anticipate demand will continue to increase throughout the month as vaccinations become more widely available and weather turns warmer,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director of Public and Government Affairs. “This will lead to fluctuation at the pump throughout the spring season.”
AAA Northeast’s April 5 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be 1 cent higher than last week ($2.86), averaging $2.87 a gallon. Today’s national average price is 12 cents higher than a month ago ($2.75), and 94 cents higher than this day last year ($1.93).
