The Insurance Information Institute (Triple-I) announced in a press release on February 2, 2022, the availability of its just-published 2022 Annual Report. A link to the illustrated twelve-page report is below.
The report identifies the organization’s accomplishments during its second full year as an affiliate of The Institutes.
Sean Kevelighan, CEO of Triple-I in his letter in the Annual Report, stated that “To meets its mission, Triple-I has established a reputation for managing news cycles and earned credibility with major news outlets. No matter what is in the headlines, we also proactively inform and empower consumers, and the industry, by disseminating information on topical insurance and risk management issues.”
Mr. Kevelighan noted during 2022 Triple-I delivered data-driven insights on five key industry issues: climate risk resilience; cyber insurance; diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the insurance industry; insurance economics and public policy; and legal system abuse and fraud.
Like Mr. Kevelighan, Jennifer Kyung, Property & Casualty, Chief Underwriter, USAA, and the first woman ever elected chair of Triple-I’s Executive Leadership Committee (ELC) stated in her “A message from the Triple-I Chairwoman” that “The Insurance Information Institute is the go-to resource for consumers, media outlets, and industry professionals seeking useful insurance information, so I appreciated the opportunity this year to help Triple-I continue to do its essential work.”
Ms. Kyung also called for the insurance industry to support Triple-I. “Like USAA, Triple-I is a mission-driven organization, and its value proposition is clear. Triple-I offers data, insights, and credibility you cannot find anywhere else. If you’re in the insurance industry, it benefits all of us when we support Triple-I as member companies.”
Triple-I’s 2022 digital Annual Report highlights that its website attracted more than 500,000 visitors per month last year, experienced substantial growth in the number of its social media channel followers and hosted 80-plus presentations from insurance subject matter experts throughout the calendar year 2022. Also, the Triple-I annual Joint Industry Forum in New York City in December brought industry leaders to discuss climate risk, cyber insurance, the insurance industry’s focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), public policy affecting insurance economics, abuse of the legal system, and insurance fraud.
According to Triple-I’s Annual Report, it was one of the primary sources of insurance information for the media and the public in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, which made two landfalls in the U.S. in late September 2022. Triple-I was also a leading national source on the Florida home insurance crisis. The Annual Report links to some of the higher-profile media stories in which Triple-I was cited.
The Triple-I’s diverse membership accounts for nearly 50 percent of all property/casualty (P/C) premiums written in the U.S. Members include mutual and stock companies selling both personal and commercial lines insurance coverage. Reinsurers also are Triple-I members. These insurers and reinsurers have regional, national, and international customers. Brokers, agents, consultants, educators, and other insurance industry professionals are among Triple-I’s associate members.
Founded in 1960, the Insurance Information Institute finalized its affiliation with The Institutes in November 2020.
