Pauline R. Gifford, age 86 of Barre MA, passed away on July 1, 2023. She was born November 24, 1936, in Southbridge MA, the daughter of the late Emile and Beatrice Trahan.
Pauline was a dedicated insurance industry professional priding herself on customer service. She began her career at the Tetreault Agency in Southbridge, MA, moved to a position at the Phipps agency in Meriden, CT, and then joined the Protector Group in Worcester, MA where she spent the majority of her career. Following retirement Pauline spent her time traveling with her long-time companion Keith and with her son and his family. She also spent many years volunteering at the Barre Senior Center and she served as President of the Barre Women’s Club from 2006-2008.
She is survived by her son, Walter Atwood and his wife Sheila of Rumford RI. Devoted and beloved grandmother (Memere) to Ryan and Evan Atwood, and big sister to brother Bob Trahan and his wife Beth Trahan of Cape Cod. She also leaves her nieces and nephews Therese (Bryan) Kerman, Michelle (Kirk) Fasshauer, Denise (Ken) Greene, and David (Cathy) Trahan, their mother, Lauria Schoen, and great-nephews and nieces Tyler, Isabel, Andrew, Timothy, Bryan, Norman, and Samantha. She is survived by her companion and soulmate of many years, Charles Keith Roberts of Barre, MA. She also leaves behind many good friends from her working days and from her retirement years spent in Barre MA. She was predeceased by her brother, Emile Trahan (Holly) of Princeton.
The family wishes to thank staff at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham and those at the Good Shepherd Hospice who cared for her during her last days.
