Arthur J. Gallagher has announced another acquisition in New England. Following its purchase of Eastern Insurance last year, the company announced this month that it has acquired The Rowley Company.
Based in New Hampshire, The Rowley Agency was established by Joseph Rowley in 1966 with a single office in Concord. Since then, the company has grown into one of the largest independent insurance agencies in northern New England providing property/casualty, surety and employee benefits products to both commercial and personal lines clients primarily in New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Massachusetts. Since 1991, the company has been run by majority owners, Dan Church (CEO) and Gary Stevens (President),
“The Rowley Agency’s expertise in niches including construction, manufacturing and healthcare enhances our existing capabilities as we continue to expand our presence in New England,” said J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr., Chairman and CEO. “I am delighted to welcome Dan, Gary and their associates to Gallagher.”
According to the terms of the transaction, both Dan Church, Gary Stevens and their team will remain in their current location under the direction of Brendan Gallagher, head of Gallagher’s Northeast region retail property/casualty brokerage operations, and John Neumaier, head of Gallagher’s East region employee benefits consulting and brokerage operations. No further terms of the deal were disclosed.
