Kaplansky Insurance Accelerates Expansion with Three Strategic Acquisitions in Massachusetts

January 6, 2025 by AC Editor

All Three Acquisitions Were Made in Second Half of 2024

Kaplansky Insurance, a renowned independent insurance agency headquartered in Needham, Massachusetts, has continued its aggressive expansion strategy with three significant acquisitions in the second half of 2024. Buckley Insurance, Pijar Insurance, and Mobilio Insurance have all joined the Kaplansky portfolio, reinforcing its presence across key regions of the state.

Strengthening the Worcester Market: Buckley and Mobilio Insurance Acquisitions

On August 28, 2024, Kaplansky finalized its acquisition of Buckley Insurance, a respected agency established in 2003 and based in Worcester, Massachusetts. Known for its exemplary service to communities in Worcester and nearby towns, Buckley Insurance earned a reputation for quality and professionalism. By retaining Buckley’s existing office on Belmont Street, Kaplansky aims to provide a seamless transition for its clients.

Further expanding its foothold in Worcester, Kaplansky acquired Mobilio Insurance on November 15, 2024. Mobilio, founded in 1967, has a long-standing tradition of serving clients in Worcester and surrounding towns, including Oxford, Sturbridge, and Holden. Mobilio’s operations will be integrated into Kaplansky’s existing Worcester office at 398 Belmont Street, ensuring continuity in service for local clients.

Ely Kaplansky, President and CEO of Kaplansky Insurance noted that the agency was excited to welcome both Buckley and Mobilio Insurance into the Kaplansky Insurance family have built strong legacies in their communities. “Their longstanding commitment to quality service and underwriting excellence perfectly aligns with our values.” These acquisitions “…not only expands our geographic reach but also reinforces our dedication to serving the evolving needs of our clients.”

Expansion into Holyoke with Pijar Insurance

On November 6, 2024, Kaplansky completed the acquisition of Pijar Insurance, a well-regarded agency founded in 1942 and based in Holyoke, Massachusetts. With decades of experience serving Holyoke and neighboring towns such as Chicopee, Easthampton, and Westfield, Pijar Insurance brings a wealth of regional expertise to Kaplansky’s growing network. Pijar’s operations will merge with Kaplansky’s Chicopee office, ensuring a smooth transition for clients while maintaining a local presence.

Mr. Kaplansky noted the addition of Pijar Insurance strengthens Kaplansky Insurance’s commitment to providing tailored insurance solutions throughout Western Massachusetts. “We are thrilled to welcome them into the Kaplansky family.”

Commitment to Strategic Growth

These acquisitions highlight Kaplansky Insurance’s ongoing focus on expanding its geographic reach and enhancing client service across New England. Each of the newly acquired agencies brings a legacy of customer satisfaction and local expertise, which Kaplansky intends to build upon.

Since its founding in 1974, Kaplansky Insurance has grown to become a trusted name in the industry by pursuing strategic acquisitions and delivering superior service. With offices now spread across Massachusetts, the agency is poised to continue its upward trajectory in the regional insurance market.
