Arbella Insurance Foundation Celebrates 20 Years of Charitable Giving and Announces Total Donations and Organizations Supported in 2024

March 26, 2025 by AC Editor

The Foundation is proud to reach $45 million in total lifetime donations since its inception in 2005

QUINCY, Mass., MARCH 25, 2025 — The Arbella Insurance Foundation (“Foundation”) celebrates 20 years of service and charitable giving efforts in the New England area this year. This milestone is also marked by the recognition as one of the Boston Business Journal’s top charitable contributors in the state of Massachusetts for 16 consecutive years.

To begin a year of celebration, the Foundation is proud to announce its 2024 donation total of $2.2 million that supported 500 different charitable organizations throughout New England. Total donations by the Foundation have now reached $45 million since the Foundation’s founding in 2005. This past year, funds from the Foundation and the volunteer efforts of Arbella employees supported long-term charitable partners who are making a difference in the community by providing social justice and community health improvements, through efforts across education, as well as supporting those making a difference in immigration reform.

“Supporting our communities across New England has always been at the heart of Arbella’s mission, and our employees go above and beyond year after year to give back to the causes they believe in,” said John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group and chairman and president of the Arbella Insurance Foundation. “As challenges continue to evolve, so does our commitment to providing support where it’s needed most. I am grateful for our employees’ generosity and am proud of the lasting impact Arbella has in the areas where care is needed most.”

The Foundation is proud of both our Arbella employees and independent agents who invested their time and monetary donations to the non-profit organizations in their local communities who needed assistance now more than ever. Together in 2024, the Foundation, Arbella’s employees, and independent agents donated funds and volunteer hours, which made a substantial impact across New England.

“Arbella employees and agents continue to inspire the greater community and exemplify the power of generosity and giving back,”said Robin Jones, executive director of the Arbella Insurance Foundation. “I am proud to witness their commitment to local organizations, and we’re thankful for the impact they are making.”

Additionally, the Foundation received support from 445 Arbella employee volunteers in 2024, who donated their time to 25 organizations in the area. With a total of over 1,600 volunteer hours completed in 2024, Arbella is proud to have supported the following causes.

Highlights among the Foundation’s 2024 charitable giving initiatives include:

Health and Wellness

Supporting the health and wellness of the New England community was a major initiative in 2024 for the Foundation. Home to many of the country’s best facilities and hospitals for cancer research, the Foundation was proud to partner and support the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber Cancer institute last year. We marked the 16th consecutive year of Arbella’s Pink Day in 2024, where Arbella employees joined forces with the Foundation to raise funds to provide cancer screenings and education for those living in areas where medical care is not as readily available through the work of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Arbella employees raised more than $22,500 at the annual Pink Day event, and those funds were matched by the Arbella Insurance Foundation for a total donation of over $45,100, with over $582,000 in total lifetime donations.

The Arbella Foundation and Arbella Insurance Group, combined with the generosity of the Arbella employees and agents, contributed $100,000 to Dana-Farber as part of the Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, which supports cancer care and research. Over the years, the Foundation contributed almost $1.6 million to Dana-Farber as a part of this annual event.

A major Foundation initiative this past year also included a donation of $150,000 to the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) to support the production and launch of their newest mobile health clinic, enabling GLFHC to triple the patient care that they can offer to unhoused and transient individuals.

Food Insecurity

From November 1, 2023, through February 29, 2024, the Foundation’s “Let’s Drive out Hunger” program, which supports food insecurity programs across New England, raised over $122,000. Over the last 16 years, the Foundation has raised a total of over $2,030,000 with the support of Arbella employees and independent agents for hundreds of food programs and pantries throughout New England. Grants have also been provided to many organizations that are proactive in finding creative solutions to food insecurity, such as Interfaith Social Services, St. Vincent DePaul, the Salem Food Pantry, and more.

Immigration

Over 18% of Massachusetts residents are immigrants. Arbella is proud to stand behind these locals who make up 21% of the Massachusetts labor force. The Foundation continues to support immigration reform in Massachusetts, this year partnering and fostering efforts with the Mabel Center for Immigrant Justice.
