DiVirgilio Insurance Acquires Ebba J. Holland Insurance Agency; Marks Seventh Acquisition for Lynnfield-Based Firm

November 17, 2025 by AC Editor

Arlington Agency to Merge into DiVirgilio Insurance Following Founder’s Retirement

DiVirgilio Insurance Inc. has expanded its presence in the Greater Boston Area with the acquisition of the Ebba J. Holland Insurance Agency in Arlington, Massachusetts. The Lynnfield-based independent agency announced that it has purchased the assets of the Holland Agency, effective November 1, as longtime owner and co-founder Ebba Holland retires from the industry.

Founder Cites Shared Values and Continued Client Service

Holland said the decision followed a thorough review of options for her clients. “After exploring options to best provide great continued service to our clients, we were happy to form this partnership with DiVirgilio Insurance, whom we have known for quite some time. DiVirgilio Insurance shares our core value of great customer service and the merger will result in more product offerings to best meet our client’s insurance needs.”

An Acquisition Alignment in Philosophy and Timing

For DiVirgilio Insurance, the move reflects both strategic fit and long-standing familiarity. “This was an easy decision for us as we knew that we had the same business philosophy of bringing personal, in-house customer service to our clients,” said Matt DiVirgilio, President of DiVirgilio Insurance Agency. “The timing was right with Ebba looking to retire but making sure clients’ needs were in good hands.”

Founded in 1993 in Lynn by Albert DiVirgilio and now led by his son Matt, the agency serves personal, commercial, and benefits clients across Massachusetts. In 2019, Matt DiVirgilio guided the firm into the payroll and timekeeping sector with the acquisition of On-Time Payroll Services LLC in Waltham—a move that marked the beginning of a targeted growth strategy.

Seventh Acquisition and Ongoing Expansion Strategy

The Holland Agency deal represents DiVirgilio Insurance’s seventh acquisition since its founding. According to the company, the integration of insurance and payroll services continues to be a key differentiator.

“We have had a strategic targeted growth plan since 2019 with the acquisition of On-Time Payroll and have made sure to standby in-house customer service and are proud to share that the integration between insurance and payroll services has been extremely successful where our clients enjoy deeper personal relationships with our team,” said Matt DiVirgilio.

Future Acquisition Plans

The agency said it will continue seeking additional acquisition opportunities within Greater Boston as it expands its regional footprint. For more information, readers can contact Matt DiVirgilio at matt@divirgilioinsurance.com.
