In Memoriam: Brian Clifford McGrath

November 20, 2025 by AC Editor

Brian Clifford McGrath, of Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts passed away on November 2, 2025.  Brian was born in Winchester, Massachusetts and lived his primary years in Marblehead. Brian moved to Cape Cod in 1966 with his parents and the Cape became his forever home.

Brian graduated from St. John’s Prep in Danvers, Massachusetts in 1975 and graduated from Providence College, Providence, RI with a B.S. Degree in Accounting in 1979.

Brian started his career in Insurance in Boston at Fireman’s Fund and AIG. He moved to Cape Cod in 1985 to work with his father and take over the Edward J. McGrath Insurance Agency, where he worked until retirement in 2021. Brian held the Certified Insurance Counselor designation (CIC), and he was a past president of the Cape Cod Insurance Agents Association.

Brian loved his family, his dogs, and the ocean. Another true love of his was the game of hockey. Brian loved playing it, coaching it and watching it.  He played through high school, was a coach to all three of his children, and was their biggest, and loudest fan at their games. Brian was involved for many years with the Yarmouth-Dennis Youth Hockey Association as both a coach and board member. He no doubt will be watching his grandkids play from his front seat in heaven.

Brian is survived by his wife, Donna McGrath, his daughter Kaitlin (McGrath) Robinson, son-in-law David Robinson, son Sean McGrath, daughter-in-law Amanda (Claes) McGrath, son Cory McGrath, daughter-in-law Lauren (Puliafico) McGrath.  He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Cameron,  Colin, Molly, Connor, Maisie and Theodore.  He was predeceased by his father, Edward J. McGrath, and mother, Barbara McGrath.

Mr. McGrath’s obituary is reprinted from the Hallet Funeral Home website.
