BayCoast Renews Five Star Status Amid Highly Select Group

SWANSEA, MA – The Massachusetts Association of Insurance Agents (MAIA) proudly announces that BayCoast Insurance, serving clients from multiple locations across Massachusetts and Rhode Island, has renewed its Five Star Agency Designation, a distinction it has held since first earning the recognition in 2013.

BayCoast Insurance is among a highly select group of independent agencies statewide to achieve this honor. Fewer than 25 of more than 1,500 agencies in Massachusetts—less than two percent—currently hold the Five Star designation. The recognition reflects sustained excellence across five critical imperatives: Customer Focus, Management and Leadership, Human Resources, Product and Process, and Future Success Initiatives.

Bank Affiliation and South Coast Footprint Shape Strategy

A wholly owned subsidiary of BayCoast Bank, a respected community savings bank proudly celebrating its 175th year of service across the South Coast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, BayCoast Insurance embraces a long-standing tradition of integrity, trust, and local leadership. The agency is deeply committed to delivering personalized insurance solutions by educating clients on risk, prioritizing appropriate coverage, and providing peace of mind through thoughtful, informed guidance.

Operational Investments Drive Efficiency and Growth

Over the past several years, BayCoast Insurance has continued to evolve through a deliberate, forward-thinking approach to growth and operational excellence. Investments in workflow automation, focused market teams, enhanced training, auditing, and advanced technology have strengthened both efficiency and service quality. Central to this progress is a strong entrepreneurial culture—reflected in the agency’s use of Process Improvement Teams (PITs), which empower employees with subject-matter expertise to lead initiatives that enhance the client experience and drive organizational growth.

People-First Culture Supports Retention and Long-Term Performance

The agency’s mission and vision emphasize partnership, mutual trust, respect, and long-term relationships. These values are reflected in exceptional customer retention, decades-long carrier relationships, and a people-first workplace culture where employees are supported, engaged, and encouraged to innovate.

“The BayCoast team has a remarkable track record of continuous improvement focused on both the customer experience and agency efficiency—two core pillars of the Five Star Agency Designation,” said Heather Kramer, COO and Vice President of MAIA. “Equally impressive is the agency’s dedication to its people, from developing new talent to supporting internal career growth.”

Patrick Long, President of BayCoast Insurance, added, “We have intentionally created an environment where people can build meaningful careers, pursue excellence, and make a positive impact in their communities. This recognition belongs to our entire team, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built together.”

MAIA awards the Five Star Agency Designation to independent agencies that undergo a rigorous evaluation based on key operational and performance criteria. Agencies must complete a comprehensive review every three years to maintain the designation.
