The Insurance Library Association of Boston notified us about these recent changes
Insurance Producers take notice. Both the Insurance Library Association and the MAIA, providers of Continuing Education classes for insurance producers, have been notified that the Division of Insurance has instituted new reporting requirements for CE providers, effective immediately. Under the new requirements, promulgated in Chapter 139 of the Acts of 2014, a producers’ credits must be filed prior to their renewal date.
While the Division of Insurance issued no press release about these latest changes, after some searching here is what they did post on their site. According to the Insurance Library, it appears these changes went into affect on President’s Day, although the Division made no reference to a specific date in the announcement on its website:
Pursuant to Chapter 139 of the Acts of 2014, in order to renew your Massachusetts Insurance Producer License you must have completed your required continuing education credits prior to your license renewal date. Failure to complete your continuing education credits prior to your renewal date may result in additional monetary penalties and reinstatement fees. Non-Compliance with Massachusetts Continuing Education requirements may also result in the suspension of your License.
To be in compliance with Massachusetts continuing education requirements; all licensees are required to take continuing education courses must include a three (3) hour course on ethics among those courses taken..
To assure timely renewal of your license, be sure to allow enough time for your continuing education credits to appear on your transcript prior to your license renewal date.
