Mr. Bevelaqua was the owner of the Norwood Insurance Agency

Peter Bevelaqua passed away on September 9, 2017 after a brief illness. He was 48.

Born in Haverhill, on October 16, 1968, he was the son of the late R. Burke Bevelaqua and Anne (Sullivan) Bevelaqua. A lifelong resident of Groveland and Haverhill, Mr. Bevelaqua was a graduate of both the Kent’s Hill School in Maine and Assumption College in Worcester.

His surviving family members include his mother Anne (Sullivan) Bevelaqua, his sister Melissa (Bevelaqua) Connell and her husband Brian, his nephew Charles “Charlie” Burke Connell and his niece and Goddaughter Caroline Hannan Connell and several cousins, relatives and many more loving and close friends.

A longtime member of the Massachusetts insurance industry and a MAIA member, Mr. Bevelaqua was owner and president of the Norwood Insurance Agency, an independent insurance agency based in Groveland. Mr. Bevelaqua, who represented the third generation of this family-owned independent agency, first joined the agency in 1992. He eventually went on to serve as the President for 17 out his 25 years with the agency.

In addition to his insurance career, Mr. Bevelaqua also was an active member in the Groveland community as was a member of the the Pentucket Kiwanis Club, as well as a proud sponsor of youth baseball, both the Riverside Bradford and the Groveland Baseball leagues.

To the many who knew Mr. Bevelaqua, all would say he was a true gentleman, non-judgmental, kind and was loved by all that were fortunate enough to know him. He enjoyed golfing, skiing, boating and was a skilled captain at navigating the Merrimack River.

Mr. Bevelaqua’s family request that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in his memory or in his name to either the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress (mdsc.org) at 20 Burlington Mall Rd., Suite 261, Burlington, MA 01803 or the American Heart Association (aha.org) at 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451-8750.
