Latest Updates from CAR & the MAIP

July 26, 2011 by AC Editor

Just in case you haven’t visited the MAIP website lately, here are some updates as of July 22nd:

  • MAIP Report Updates: All reports on the MAIP website are now .PDF rather than Crystal Reports.
  • Changes  to Rules 21, 28, 29, 30, 31 and 36 of the Rules of Operation were approved as of July, 18, 2011.
  • Assigned Risk Manual Procedures: The CAR Governing Committee approved the inclusion of additional chapters to this manual.
  • MAIP Non-Compliance Enhancements include attaching documentation to Violations and Complaints and email notifications.
  • MAIP Quota Share Report: The Report has been updated to reflect May 2011 Statistical Report.
  • Motorcycles in the MAIP – CAR provides the following tips:
  1. Motorcycles may be placed in the MAIP on the same MAIP Policy that includes a private passenger vehicle.
  2. A person holding a motorcycle permit may obtain coverage through MAIP for an owned motorcycle
  3. Motorcycle physical damage coverages are calculated based on the bike’s cost new, not via a VIN look-up.
  4. Remember, motorcycle driver classifications (40, 50, 50, 70) differ from private passenger clarifications (10, 15, 17…)
