Risk Strategies Selects Matthew Power to Lead Wholesale, Alternative Distribution Operations
Risk Strategies has selected Matthew Power to lead its national wholesale and alternative distribution operations. He comes to Risk Strategies from Lexington Insurance Company, where he was National Branch President and Head of Wholesale Broker Engagement.
Based in Boston, Power will also oversee the development of new programs as the firm seeks to build out its portfolio of specialty wholesale businesses and offerings. Along with acquisitions specifically targeting wholesale operations, Risk Strategies has acquired a number of firms that have brought with them robust wholesale capabilities.
“Having first-tier expertise in wholesale and alternative distribution is important to our overall capabilities, especially as we continue to invest in this space,” explained Risk Strategies’ President, John Mina. “Matt is exactly the right person to bring focus to this side of our business and build on the great foundation we have in place.”
Previously Head of Strategic Development and Chief Innovation and Strategic Relationship Officer at AIG, Power also held the role of President of Risk Specialists Companies, a national network of wholly-owned brokerage subsidiaries of AIG. His career in insurance spans more than 25 years and includes stints with Home Insurance Company and Kemper Insurance Company.

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, who has also completed postgraduate studies at Harvard Business School, Power serves on the board of directors for several organizations, including the New England Council, the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, and the Dean’s Advisory Board at the University of Massachusetts College of Management.ers
Quincy-based XS Brokers Promotes Sean McVicker, CPCU to Division Leader, Brokerage Casualty
XS Brokers (XSB), a leading independent insurance underwriting and wholesale brokerage group, announces the promotion of Sean McVicker to Division Leader, Brokerage Casualty. Casualty insurance is a key practice area within the fast-growing XS Specialty Brokerage Unit, the full-service wholesale brokerage arm of Boston-headquartered XS Brokers focused on Property and Casualty, Environmental, Professional and Workers Compensation.
Sean will play a key role in carrier management, national client growth, enhancement of best practices as well as attraction and cultivation of talent. “Through his sound command of XS Brokers Specialty casualty products and his ability to develop and foster relationships, Sean has acquired high levels of trust from his clients and peers,” stated Gabe Carrieri, Executive Vice President and National Brokerage Leader. “We look forward to Sean’s continued leadership.”

Insurance Library of Boston’s New Executive Director, Paul Tetrault, JD, CPCU, ARM, AIM, Named A 2019 P&C Insurance Industry Thought Leader

The Insurance Library Association of Boston’s new Executive Director, Paul Tetrault, JD, CPCU, ARM, AIM, has been named a 2019 P&C Insurance Industry Thought Leader by the national magazine PropertyCasualty 360.
In including Mr. Tetrault among the the list, the editorial staff of the magazine noted the following,

At the Insurance Library Association of Boston, Paul leads all aspects of the Library’s operations. He was previously state and policy affairs counsel for the National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies where he was responsible for public policy development, legislative and regulatory issue management, and legal analysis in support of NAMIC’s government affairs activities. He is chair of the CPCU Society’s Regulatory and Legislative Interest Group and is a member of the Society’s Publications Committee. He is a frequent contributor to insurance publications.
As a member of this group, Mr. Tetrault has been invited by PC360 to serve on its Editorial Advisory Board in 2019 “…to provide the publication with deeper insights into where the industry is today and where it’s headed over the next few years.”
Ed Krayer Named Director of Willis Tower Watson Boston

Ed Krayer recently joined the Boston office of Willis Towers Watson as Senior Vice President. He focuses on insurance solutions for private equity firms and their portfolio companies, as well as for companies in the life sciences, technology and financial institution sectors. Prior to joining Willis Towers Watson, Ed spent three years at JLT Specialty USA. He has also worked at EBS Capstone (now Woodruff Sawyer) and Aon Risk Solutions. Ed graduated from Cardigan Mountain School in Canaan, NH, where he now serves as a Trustee, and from Saint Paul’s School in Concord, NH. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard College in Cambridge, MA. Ed currently resides in Winchester, MA, with his wife and four children.
