Bearingstar Team Manager Courtney Knowlton Named President of the Boston Chapter of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter Society

February 25, 2021 by AC Editor

Courtney Knowlton

Norwood, MA – Bearingstar Insurance is pleased to announce that Team Manager, Courtney Knowlton has been appointed President of the Boston Chapter of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) Society, effective January 1, 2021. As President, Knowlton will be involved in many efforts to improve recruitment throughout the insurance industry and provide resources to help students gain exposure and develop skills crucial to serve the risk management industry. She will also help the CPCU Society further its mission to offer knowledge and leadership opportunities for the local community of risk and insurance professionals.

“I am honored to serve as CPCU President as the Boston Chapter celebrates its 70th anniversary,” said Knowlton. “Early in my career, I saw many successful women drive forward their careers with this designation – one of the most demanding credentials in the insurance industry – and I look forward to mentoring the next generation as they enter the insurance industry.”

An insurance professional with nearly 10 years of experience, Knowlton began her career as a Customer Service Representative at Arbella Insurance Group in 2011. She was then promoted to operations lead in 2013, and a year later, rose to Team Manager at Arbella. In September of 2020, Knowlton joined Bearingstar as a Team Manager, where she continues to coach and develop insurance professionals who service their customers. An active member of the CPCU Society for years, Knowlton previously joined the board in 2017.

“Bearingstar congratulates Courtney as she begins her term as CPCU Society President,” said Kim Kennedy, Chief Operating Officer at Bearingstar. “She is a seasoned insurance representative dedicated to attracting young talent to the industry and inspiring others through continuing education. We’re confident she will continue to support the CPCU’s long tradition of promoting excellence through ethical behavior and leadership opportunities.”

The Boston CPCU Society Chapter, Inc. is a community of credentialed property and casualty insurance professionals committed to providing resources, educational programs that enable individuals to expand their technical insurance skills and business capabilities in order to improve the overall performance of the insurance industry while adhering to the highest ethical standards.

Only 4% of insurance professionals hold the CPCU designation, which is conferred by The Institutes and requires passing rigorous undergraduate- and graduate-level exams, meeting an experience requirement and agreeing to be bound by a strict code of professional ethics.

Knowlton is currently pursuing her MA in Insurance Management at Boston University and received her BS from Eastern Nazarene College in 2006.
