Independent Agents Bring a Unique Ability To Handle Complex Risks
Centennial insurer Main Street America announced this month that it would be exiting the Personal Lines insurance marketplace. In its place, the company will be refocusing its efforts on the Commercial Lines marketplace via its independent agency partners.
The following is the official company announcement on the decision:
For more than a century, Main Street America Insurance has been protecting what’s most important to their policyholders. That success, in part, is credited to a willingness to constantly evaluate our current position against a changing market and evolve when necessary to ensure continued stability and success for our independent agents and their clients.
Today, we’re continuing that evolution by tightening our focus and leaning further into the tremendous opportunity we believe exists in the commercial lines space. In order to fully resource and support this commercial lines focus, we have made the decision to exit the personal lines segment.
“Main Street America is doubling down on commercial lines and clearly defining our future direction in the marketplace,” said Chris Listau, president and CEO. “As a trusted and respected brand in the independent agent channel, we’re continuing to move forward confidently in an area that enables us to take advantage of the incredible potential that exists in the commercial lines space. This will further support our agents in solving the unmet needs of small business owners.”
A commercial lines focus allows the company to bring new product innovations and service capabilities to market at a faster pace. This emphasis ensures a truly elevated agent experience as already evidenced in recent enhancements to their commercial lines platform as well as newly launched Commercial Farm and Ranch capabilities.
“We’re excited to marry current market opportunities and a refined focus with the independent agency channel’s ability to dominantly handle complicated, complex risks often associated with commercial lines customers,” said Richard Vaughn, head of sales at Main Street America. “We have a tremendous opportunity in front of us and we’re ready to unleash the full potential of what Main Street America and our appointed agents can accomplish together.”
