Tarpey Insurance Acquires Its Second Agency in Melrose This Year

April 26, 2016 by AC Editor

The acquisition announced this month took place in January of this year

Wakefield’s Tarpey Insurance Group has acquired the assets of the WC Huntress Insurance Agency of Melrose. This is the second acquisition for the family-owned and operated independent insurance agency this year. In January, the agency acquired The Wilson Insurance Agency, also based in Melrose. While announced this month, like the Wilson transaction, the acquistion of the Huntress Insurance Agency was also effective as of January 1st, 2016.

According to the terms of the transaction, WC Huntress will relocate its business to the Tarpey Insurance Group’s Melrose office at 109 West Foster Street. All of the existing employees of WC Huntress will continue on as employees of the Tarpey Insurance Group.

“After serving the Melrose community for almost 40 years it is with great pleasure that I announce that as of January 1st Huntress Insurance has joined Tarpey Insurance Group,” said William Huntress, CEO of WC Huntress Insurance Agency. “You will not experience any change in who you work with at the agency or the company that insures you.  In over 25 years of exchanging business ideas and beliefs with members of the Tarpey family, I feel comfortable that their values are similar to mine and you will benefit from being part of this association. They are insurance professionals who have been in this business for over 50 years.”

With this second agency acquisition in Melrose, the Tarpey Insurance Group has solidified its presence in the town. In addition to Melrose, the agency also has four other locations including its headquarters in Wakefield and agency offices in Newton and Saugus.
