About the James O. Herrick Memorial Young Agent of the Year Award

Jim Herrick photoIn 2013, the MAIA renamed the Young Agent of the Year award in honor of former MAIA Board Member, Jim Herrick. Mr. Herrick, who passed away unexpectedly, at the age of 46, in the fall of 2013, spent his entire career in the Massachusetts insurance industry. Right out of college he began his insurance career with Toole Insurance in the Berkshires, eventually moving on to work for many years at The Hanover Insurance Company and then finally at The Berkshire Insurance Group.

As a Board Member of the MAIA, he worked with the Young Agents as Board Liaison when the committee first began to revitalize itself. In naming the award in his honor, the MAIA said that Jim Herrick “…will be remembered by the young agents who worked with him as an ally, a cheerleader and a partner who was always available to lend an ear, field questions or listen to their ideas.”
