In Memoriam: Barbara Comeau, 1948-2025

October 31, 2025 by AC Editor

Enjoyed a 30-year career with MassMutual Life Insurance

Barbara Marion Comeau, 77, of East Longmeadow, MA, passed away on September 28, 2025, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born January 28, 1948, she was the only child of the late Aurthur and Marion (Collins) Comeau but was later welcomed into the extended family of her life partner, Philip Moos for the last twenty-three years of her life.

A graduate of Classical High School (1965) and UMass Amherst (1969), Barbara enjoyed a 30-year career as an underwriter at MassMutual Life Insurance.

She was a founding member of the Ludlow Tennis Club, active in her bridge club, and a devoted alumna who helped plan reunions for the Classical High Class of 1965. She also sang alto for many years with the Springfield Symphony Chorus. Barbara’s faith was central to her life, and she was a member of several congregations, including South Congregational Church, Springfield, Asylum Hill Congregational Church, Hartford, Trinity Methodist Church in Springfield, and South Yarmouth Methodist Church on Cape Cod.

She is survived by her life partner, Philip Moos of East Longmeadow, and his daughter, Emily Hultquist (Andrew), of West Hartford along with their children, Nigel and Jasper, who lovingly called her “Grandma.” Barbara will be remembered for her faith, friendships, and generosity of spirit.
