The Cappadona Agency has been an independent insurance agency in Watertown for over four decades

The Robert J. Cappadona Agency, a locally-owned and operated independent agency based in Watertown has been sold to the WTPhelan Agency. Founded in 1972 by Robert J. Cappadona, the namesake agency was created after Mr. Cappadona ended an “illustrious football career” which included stints with both the Boston Patriots and the Buffalo Bills. Born and raised in Watertown, Mr. Cappadona returned to his hometown to open his namesake agency in order to serve the needs of his community.

Upon making the decision to retire after more than four decades in business, Mr. Cappadona chose to sell his agency to WTPhelan as he felt that “the Phelan Agency would provide a seamless transition for his valued customers.” According to the terms of the transaction, Mr. Cappadona will continue as a consultant after the sale of his agency and will work out of WTPhelan’s Watertown office located at 145 Main Street, at the same location where all of the former Cappadona Insurance Agency clients will be serviced going forward.

“At WTPhelan, we are committed to providing exceptional service, and we are honored that Bob Cappadona has entrusted our agency to take care of his customers,” said Robert Ramsey, the Agency’s Vice President. “We are delighted to welcome Bob’s customers to WTPhelan, and are confident that we will provide them with the same level of integrity and care they have received from the Cappadona Agency over the past half-century.”

WTPhelan continues to solidify its presence in Middlesex County

A fourth generation family-owned and operated insurance agency founded in Cambridge in 1898, WTPhelan has grown to become one of the largest privately-owned independent insurance agencies in Massachusetts. Owned and operated by three brothers: Richard, David, and Robert Ramsey, the agency’s focus has been on creating a strong brand presence in the greater Middlesex County area. The agency’s latest acquisition marks WTPhelan’s 16th agency acquisition within this specific geographic area and marks the first acquisition for the agency in 2019. The 121-year-old independent agency currently has six branch locations in the metro-Boston area: Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge, Watertown, Woburn, and Lexington.
